This was shot on the main trail going from Herrick to Danada Forest Preserves. Unfortunately it was one of the last pleasant mornings before....... the Ice Man Cometh.

Post 15

This is a memorial to all the Veterans that have served our country. This year commemorating the Vietnam War. Located in front of the Millennium Carillon Bell tower on Rotary hill, along the Naperville Riverwalk.

I took this image over at Danada Horse Farm. As you can see the sun is raising in the east. I used a small aperture of f/11 which I would have thought would give a little more focus to the background, but it didn't and I'm glad because it allowed more separation between foreground and the background. A couple more camera settings: Focal Length 24mm, Shutter speed of 1/125.

I struggled up a broken trail, until I reached the summit of the Danada escarpment. Where I gazed out at the grandeur and serenity of the great plains of Lisle. The sun whispered down the soft golden rays of the morning light.  I wax a bit poetic, but the truth be told, there is no Danada escarpment, just a small hill. Also, there are no plains, it is clouds wandering past behind the foreground trees. But don't tell anyone.

I just happened to be standing next to this milkweed plant when it sneezed. Luckily I was able to whirl and take a quick shot. It looks as though breakfast had consisted of Wheaties?

Post 11

I have tried to capture these Birch trees several times in the past, but have been unsuccessful, I could never get much detail and very little contrast.Last Friday though, I arrived early and when the sun struck the leaves and bark, it really popped. My camera settings consisted of  1/000sec, @ F8, ISO of 200, 24mm focal length.

This is a scene from Blackwell Forest Preserve, early morning. The trail is located over by the archery range and travels north up to Mack road and over to Mckee marsh. My camera settings included 1/180 sec. F8, ISO 400, my focal length was 55mm.

Basidiomycetous fungi ( Toadstool). Captured at Danada Horse Farm. The image was taken in heavy shade with mid-morning light. My camera settings were, shutter speed 1/45, F-stop 5.6 lens 18-55 @ 32mm, ISO 400. Creepy yet alluring.
