Thursday's Image- Blog

A weekly Image to promote better photography.

POST 88

I was visiting the Blackwell Forest Preserve were I shot this image. Fast moving water which this branch invades,  and which includes a shot of sunlight penetrating the clouds, which highlights the scene.

POST 87

This dandelion is just about ready to 'cast it's fate to the wind'.  And, they are very good at it (just ask my lawn). But fortunately this fellow is a long way from my yard and that means I can admire it's beauty without fear of repercussions.

POST 86

I shot this over at the Morton Arboretum. They were having a 10K run so I slipped over to the west side and took a long walk. This, really caught my eye, it's all about the light. Turning a flat 2 dimensional image into something with depth and texture. "Lets take a walk".

POST 85

Everything is beginning to come alive. Generally you see someone standing there with a fishing pole in hand but on this day it was quiet. This is Silver Lake at the Blackwell Forest Preserve.

POST 84

All right, all right, I'm a sucker for a Magnolia blossom or for that matter, any good floral image. So you will have to put up with my flower shots until the season ends. This was taken at the Danada horse farm, where they have a fairly large Magnolia tree that sits close to the main house.

POST 83

Daffodil's, ...these baby's fight off the cruelties that mother nature has to offer (in the spring time) and delivers a beautiful blossom that gets the attention of the rest of the early bloomers, and sets a standard for the other guys to atain.

Blckwll-SmallTree.jpg

With the morning sunlight creeping toward this tiny Fir tree, all is right in the world of re- forestation. I found this guy over at the Blackwell Forest Preserve standing straight and tall at about 10", while grabbing some rays, and putting a lot more roots down. Hopefully he will have a chance to continue this process, and grow and mature in stature.

POST 81

This log jam was taken at the Maple Grove Forest Preserve in Downers Grove. I have witnessed a lot of these good sized trees that have collapsed, but are being held up by there nearest neighbor waiting for the domino effect, to come into play. Perhaps it's the forest's way of telling people not to leave the main trail, because, danger awaits.
