Thursday's Image- Blog

A weekly Image to promote better photography.

POST 56

These wild flowers presented themselves in a very elegant and swirling fashion as I snapped this shot, with my hat producing a bit of shade. Even with the venomous mosquitos still patrolling the trails and paths, my heart lies with summer and all the beauty it portrays, although, fall ain't bad either with autumn colors and Nebraska Football.

POST 55

I took this at Cantigny Park, I was in dire straights for an image, and this one jumped out and grabbed me. It was cloudy so that made it very good for capturing some soft and saturated colors.

POST 54

Here we have a friendly bullfrog, sitting in the pond, ready to inflate his bellows and produce a pleasant croak. There were a number of these guys in the water but this was the only one who didn't care about my presence, and maintained his buoyancy. This was taken in Lyman Woods which is located at Highland and 31st in Downers Grove.

POST 53

I ran into a swarm (?) of Monarchs at the Morten Arboretum (that would be about 6 butterfly's}.They were having a lot of fun chasing after each other, then stopping to refuel. I came back a few days later and most of them were still there, and still enjoying themselves.

POST 51

This was taken over at the Morton Arboretum, my only question is, identification? Char and I think it might be a member of the thistle family, but that is as far as our expertise goes. I accept all questions or comments so don't be afraid to offer your ID. I will be sure to reward you with a posting on the Blog.

There is something about this image that I really like, but I can't tell you what it is, because I don't know. I used a very small f/stop so that I could capture as much depth of field as possible and my ISO was at it's lowest setting (100). Probably the best thing I did was crop the frame, I eliminated a lot of background clutter that was unimportant, which put the subject front and center. By the way, this was taken at Cantigny Park.

POST 49

When it comes to Dendrology (the study of trees), these guy's should have a page of there own.  I am sure they have quite an interesting story to tell. This was taken at the Morton Arboretum.
