POST 71
A river runs through it, well, it ain't running today. This is neither a river nor is it running, because it's just too damn cold!
POST 70
This was taken at the Morton Arboretum on the the west side, were Lake Marmo empties into the Sterling pond. There is a circular cement wall adjacent to the bridge (my point of view), were this image was taken. With the recent warm weather and thunderstorms, the lake has risen to overflowing and cascades into Sterling pond. It would certainly make a nice shower for the master bath.
POST 69
This small branch with a group of leaves, landed on the new snow out on the west side of the Morton Arboretum. I was really scrambling for a picture, so I took a shot of this. I had to add some contrast and brightness along with a couple of filters to bring all the textures out, but I am quit satisfied with the end product. Merry Christmas

Lately I find myself leaning more towards the monochrome form in the visual arts. I have always had a soft spot for black and white image's, sometimes with just a bit of color peeking through. What I like the most with this composition is that it exhibits a good range of tonal contrast, light to dark with the brightest tone's right across the center of the image. Some, would say that the rules of photography prohibits the placement of the subject, centered as it is, at that location. But, what the hell. It's always feels good to break a few rules. Have a grand Christmas.
POST 67
Mid-morning at the Blackwell Forest Preserve. Barren trees, cold temps, and cloudy sky's. It's going to be a long cold winter.
POST 66
The early morning light breaks through the cloud cover and strikes these trees at the Morton Arboretum.
POST 65
Can't beat some leaves on the forest floor for a good autumn image.
